NNN99 Proceedings Submission

General Information

Talks will appear in hardcopy as well as on the NNN99 web page. Instructions for the writing and submitting of proceedings are below. Questions involving the publication of proceedings should go to the editor, Milind Diwan (diwan@bnl.gov). Questions involving the web aspects of the proceedings should be sent to nnn99@superk.physics.sunysb.edu

The deadline for submitting your contribution is 1 Dec 1999.

Proceedings should be written following AIP's Instructions for Preparation of Camera Ready Manuscripts which you should have received with the return of your scanned transparencies. Specifically this means writing your proceedings using AIP's L^ATEX macros which are available from ftp://superk.physics.sunysb.edu/pub/NNN99/ (see below for detailed instructions).

For plenary talks length limits are:

less than 20 mins: 6 pages
20 mins or more: 10 pages

and for working group talks the are:

less than 20 mins: 4 pages
20 mins or more: 6 pages

Instructions for Proceedings Submissions

Obtaining necessary files

The AIP L^ATEX macros can be downloaded by anonymous ftp from superk.physics.sunysb.edu. You can either get each individual AIP file from ftp://superk.physics.sunysb.edu/pub/NNN99/aipproc/ directory or as a gzip'ped tar file from ftp://superk.physics.sunysb.edu/pub/NNN99/aipproc.tar.gz.

Update: An optional set of LaTeX macros is available: Elsevier Science Publisher's espcrc2.sty as used for Neutrino98 proceedings. You can down load these from: ftp://superk.physics.sunysb.edu/pub/NNN99/espcrc/ directory or as a gzip'ped tar file from ftp://superk.physics.sunysb.edu/pub/NNN99/espcrc.tar.gz.

Installing AIP L^ATEX files

If you downloaded the gzip'ped tar file, untar it in your working directory, (gzip -dc aipproc.tar.gz | tar -xf -). Or, if you downloaded them individually, move them into your working directory.

Read through the README file. It tells you to run latex aipproc.ins which will generate some L^ATEX macros in the current directory. You must have a recent L^ATEX 2e (post 1997) to use these macros.

You can compile the AIP macro guide by running latex aipguide.tex (you must run this 3 times). There is also a test.tex file which gives an example usage of the AIP macros and can be used as a starting point for writing your own proceedings.

Installing ESP L^ATEX files

If you downloaded the gzip'ped tar file, untar it in your working directory, (gzip -dc espcrc.tar.gz | tar -xf -). Or, if you downloaded them individually, move them into your working directory.

Run L^ATEX (2.09 or greater) on espcrc2.tex two times. This file serves as a manual for and an example use of the ESP macros.

File naming

Please use the following naming scheme for files which you submit:

LastName-Section-[anything].[ext].

Where LastName is, obviously, your last name. To find what to use for Section check the Scientific Program and the Working Groups Program. If your talk is a plenary talk, use

[LastName]-Plenary.[Sec#].[Subsec#]-[anything].[ext].

If your talk is a working group talk use

[LastName]-WG[WG#].[Sec#].[Subsec#]-[anything].[ext].

The WG#s are listed below:

Nucleon Decay Group
Atmospheric and HE Astrophysical Neutrino Group
Solar and Supernova Neutrino Group
Accelerator Neutrino Group

For example, the first talk of the workshop would have files like:

while Bahcall's working group talk would be

What to submit

You should submit all of the .tex files making up the body of your proceedings as well as any .ps or .eps files for figures. If you needed any additional .sty or .cls files beyond those in the AIP package, also submit these. You do not need to submit any files which are part of the AIP package.

Submitting your Proceedings

You should submit your proceedings by uploading the files to
ftp://superk.physics.sunysb.edu/pub/NNN99/submit/. You can upload the files comprising your submission either individually or collected in a tar file. Also, feel free to gzip it to save bandwidth.

The details of uploading via ftp are shown below.

After submitting you have about 24 hours to make any changes, afterwards send email to Milind Diwan (diwan@bnl.gov).
